About Me

My Photo
I am a fourth-generation Montanan with a background in fine arts and design, including residential interior design and children’s theater. Because of my background in scene and costume design, manipulating fabrics and found objects into sculptures comes second nature to me. They are each a piece of theatre and inspiration can come from anywhere. A name, a piece of fabric, or a discarded brooch can be the basis of a character. Next the skeleton is roughed out of electrical wire and wooden dowels. Bits and snatches of fiber, fabric and accessories are pulled together on a story board. Bit by bit the costume is fitted to the character and sometimes the body is fitted to the costume. Next I start the rehearsal process, with posing the character into his or her stance, adding a piece of jewelry, changing a hat, scuffing a boot. Last their face is created, hair and makeup applied appropriate to this new character. Each one has its own voice, its own story.

My neighbor Molly!

This morning I returned from the gym.  Hanging on my door knob was a handle bag.  Inside a card, addressed to me, pictures, and two Rome tomatoes.  I opened the envelope, viewed the pictures, of my neighbor Molly's visit to studio.  Molly wanted to see some of my work a couple of weeks ago.  I called her and said I was shipping a piece and was working on a couple more.  At first she asked if she could come later in the week.  "No, the piece is shipping today...." I'll be right over." she said.  I opened the door, and couldn't help but notice,  her eye was covered with a bandaid.  " I just had cataract surgery this morning, but didn't want to miss out on this!"  We played in the studio.  Molly took lots of pictures, asking permission on each and every shot.  " I'll get you copies." she promised.
In the bag was this card, and the beautiful sentiments.  How kind and generous, and supportive of a neighbor.  I think Molly was responsible for  the secret bag of tomatoes last month!
I love where I live.

This is the wall she is refering ....
(This is an e-mail I received later in the day.)

"P.S. The tomatoes are San Marzano (seeds from Italy). You can save the seeds on a paper towel, let it dry, write the name on the paper towel. Save in a drawer or plastic bag. Even temperature, dry for storage. I don’t try to peel them, nice julienned on a salad.
Molly"

Don't you love her!!!!!
